(hereinafter, "Organisation" or "Data Controller"), with registered office in Viale Restelli Francesco 5, 20124 Milan (MI), provides users of the website www.ftmercati.com with information on the cookies used and/or proposed for storage.

This extended information on the use of cookies (hereinafter also: cookie policy) must be acknowledged by having read, in a separate document, the privacy policy available in the "privacy" section on http://www.ftmercati.com, in the footer of the home page.

The purpose of this cookie policy is also to describe the elements required by law, to describe the characteristics and purposes of the cookies installed by the http://www.ftmercati.com website, to include an updated link to the notices and consent forms of the third parties with which the Data Controller has entered into agreements for the installation of cookies through its website, and finally to recall the possibility for the user to express his or her options on cookies also through the settings of the browser used.

What are cookies

Cookies are small text files that sites visited by users send to their devices. These files are stored in them in order to be retransmitted, at a later date, to the same originating sites on, perhaps, a subsequent visit. Cookies can be deposited inside the user's device directly by the website the latter is visiting (first party website) or by a different website, so called "third party", since within each website, there may be elements (images, maps, sounds, specific links to web pages of other domains, etc.) that may reside and/or lead the user to links present on servers different from those providing the first party website. Thanks to the storage of cookies, the user can customise the enjoyment of certain website content by saving his or her own preferred settings. For example, it is possible to set a cookie to recognise the user registered on the site without the user having to proceed to a new authentication during a new visit.

Taxonomy proposed by the Guarantor

(Ref. Identification of simplified modalities for information and acquisition of consent for the use of cookies - 8 May 2014).

The Italian Data Protection Authority, in its Order No. 229 of 8 May 2014, proposes a taxonomy that identifies two categories of cookies based on two possible processing purposes:
1) Technical cookies
2) Profiling cookies

Technical cookies

These are cookies that serve to carry out navigation and/or provide a service to the user. They are not used for any other purpose and are normally installed directly by the website owner. Without the use of such cookies, certain operations could not be carried out or would be more complex and/or less secure, such as home-banking activities (viewing account statements, bank transfers, bill payments, etc.), for which cookies, which allow the user to be identified and maintained within the session, are indispensable.

Profiling cookies

These are cookies used to track the user's web browsing and create profiles on tastes, habits, choices, etc. These cookies can be used to deliver advertising messages to the user device in line with the preferences already expressed by the user when browsing online.

User consent for the installation of cookies on the device

The expression of consent to the storage of cookies depends on the purposes for which the cookies are used and on whether they fall under "technical cookies" or "profiling cookies". For the installation of technical cookies, no user consent is required, whereas in the case of third-party cookies, appropriate information must be provided, among other things. With regard, on the other hand, to profiling cookies only, these may be installed on the user's device only if the user has expressed his or her free, voluntary, specific and unequivocal consent after having been adequately informed.

Analytical cookies

The Garante (with reference to Order No. 229 of 8 May 2014), specified that these cookies can only be assimilated to technical cookies if they are used for site optimisation purposes and directly by the site owner (i.e. not by a third party), who may collect information in aggregate form on the number of users and how they visit the site. Under these conditions, the same rules on information and consent apply to analytical cookies as to technical cookies.
